Tweed is the ultimate slacker. He has zilch in the way of plans. But he’s about to learn how fast zero can go negative. This book was a delightful surprise. I was immediately drawn in by the main characters, Tweed and Chloe, and the offbeat humor in this book. I LOVE original stories and characters, and this book was full of them. The story starts off with a bang, and doesn't let up until the end. One thing I look for in a book, which is a very rare quality, is the ability to infuse both humor and dark scenes into a story in a believable way. That is done in this book, and it caused me to both laugh out loud in places and feel close to crying in others. There was also a believable romance between the two characters that had me rooting for them, plus chapters that really captured the teen coming-of-age experience. The book was fast-paced and nail-biting at times and caused me to lose some sleep as I stayed up too late reading it. ;) All in all, a very enjoyable read, and I was sad when it was over. I think this writer has a lot of talent, and I plan on buying all of his books.Recommend with enthusiasm!

A heartbreaking romp through adolescence. Tender when it's not brutal, this is one of those stories that feels so real. With characters that step off the page, there'll be no way to stop turning the pages to see them through their loves and losses.
Now I've finished reading Scissors and Tweed, I plan to go back to my CD Payne and Tim Sandlin books to see if I can work out why Laing's actually quite different story should put me so much in mind of those writers. Whatever the reason, I think it's a compliment.
I enjoyed this book; being able to live the hard years from adolescence to adult through the eyes of a reluctant soul. Everything came to him in the way of regretful decisions and unfortunate fate. Tweed really is a hero.
The description doesn't do this book justice. I've found this to be the case for a lot of books, so I usually read the free sample. You should do the same. You won't be sorry. I laughed and I cried and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I loved this book, worth the read. I got it free for my and was not disappointed. Very easy and entertaining read.
