Everybody knows the speech - Fourscore and seven years ago . . . but have you ever imagined what it was really like. This is one of the things I like about historical fiction. It tells us a "what if" story. Definitely worth the read!
Arrived in excellent condition! My father loved it. This story was very special to him, as he is a history buff and Abraham Lincoln aficionado. He has seen the movie based on this book and it is one of his favorites. It is a well-written and emotional story that brings history to life!
Abraham Lincoln was one of the best President’s this country has seen. This book may be short but it is packed with information. It’s all about the journey President Lincoln takes to Gettysburg and the speech we all know that was written on the train ride and delivered at Gettysburg. This is a great piece of American history that everyone should read.
I read this book when I was a child and wanted to share it with my grandchildren. It's a wonderful book.
The Perfect tribute tells the story of Abraham Lincoln writing and delivering the Gettysburg Address. When the crowd doesn't respond with applause Lincoln feels the speech was a failure. It's not until a chance meeting with a wounded Confederate officer the following day, does Lincoln discover the truth about one of the greatest speeches in U. S. history. I highly recommend this book to every one, the verbiage is mesmerizing and it's a wonderful story.
Deep silence followed his speech... The realization came later, near the bed of dying enemy. It was the most perfect tribute ever paid by any people to an orator.
This is a very touching story and also very uplifting. I wish my kids read stories like this, instead of Minecraft Zombie stories.
A nice historical book on Abraham Lincoln's speech and his realization that he didn't believe his speech was great, even though it was. Sometimes we need other people to open our eyes and make us aware of our goodness. I love this book also because I have a grandson named Lincoln and I published two children's books that has a child named Lincoln.
